“This plant eats bugs!” That’s what you’ll be telling all your friends after they see your awesome bog.

Did you know many of the crazy carnivorous plants you’ve heard of don’t come from a far-off exotic land, but actually from right here in the US? It’s true! The US is home to numerous bogs, and household names like the Venus flytrap are native to the Carolinas.

Carnivorous plants thrive in bog conditions, but even if you don’t live near a swamp, our nifty bog-making workshop will teach you how to build a self-contained bog garden so you can enjoy these unique plants in your own home.

Our instructors will start with a brief lecture to teach you what a bog is and then take you step-by-step as you create your own. These bog creations will look kind of like terrariums, but with a microenvironment more suitable to the high levels of moisture needed for bog plants to thrive.

Choose from carnivorous classics like the Venus flytrap or opt for exotic pitcher plants, and watch them work their magic as they attract bugs out of the air and trap them! Attendees will get to take their bog garden home — a nice perk if you’ve got fungus gnats flying around other plants in your collection.

Workshop fee includes all necessary plants, materials, and supplies. Add-ons may be available for a fee.
